And try contemplating this bit of Climbing News: On April 1st, 2008 Alex Honnold free soloed Moonlight Buttress (V 5.12+, 9 pitches, 1,200') in Zion National Park in Utah. Alex, who is like 22 years old, spent 83 minutes on the route. He practiced with a rope but the final ascent went completely free (no pulling on gear) with no rope - no room for error, friends. Amazing! This route goes to the top of Angels Landing - a beautiful and famous hike in Zion. To read more, click here. |
